Use a different official service for the SRD R370 grant and for permanent social grants. This guide takes you to the right one and explains what the result means.
SRD R370
Use this for the COVID-19 SRD grant. The R370 grant is funded through 31 March 2027; government plans to replace it with a longer-term grant, but no date has been announced.
You need:
Permanent social grants
Use SASSA Services for applications such as Child Support, Older Persons, Disability, Foster Child and Care Dependency grants.
Sign in to the profile used for the application. Active applications and their statuses appear in the table on the portal home page.
Open SASSA Services ↗There is no verified instruction to text your full ID number to 32147. Do not enter an ID number, bank-card number, PIN or one-time password on a third-party checker. This website explains the process; it does not collect your SASSA details.
Go to srd.sassa.gov.za and use the South African ID-holder section.
Select the option to check online. Do not use an advert or copied form on another website.
Use the applicant's ID number and the cellphone number linked to the application: the one you applied with, unless SASSA has updated it. Lost that number? Change it first.
SRD decisions and payment information are month-specific. Read the reason and the pay day shown before taking action.
Summarised from SASSA’s SRD status guide and the official status page. SASSA has not published fixed SRD pay dates for October 2026; the pay day in your own result is the one to rely on.
| Result shown | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| [Month] Pending | SASSA has your application for that month but has not finished verifying it. | Check again later in the month. Do not submit a new application. |
| [Month] Approved | You qualify for that month. | Look for the pay day shown with the result. If no pay day is shown, no payment has been processed yet. |
| [Month] Declined | You were not approved for that month, and the reason is shown. | If you believe the reason is wrong, lodge an appeal for that month on the official appeals page. |
| Bank details pending | SASSA has no banking details or payment choice for your application. | Add your payment details through the official SRD website. |
| Verify Identity | SASSA needs you to complete an identity verification process to finalise the application. | Use the button on the official status page and follow the prompts yourself. |
| Canceled | The application has been cancelled. | If you cancelled it and still qualify, use the Reinstate option on srd.sassa.gov.za. |
These labels and meanings come from the official SASSA Services FAQ.

Not necessarily. SASSA’s SRD status guide says to check the pay day shown with an approved month; if no pay day is shown, no payment has been processed yet. Once a pay day appears, confirm the balance through your bank or Postbank.
Use the Verify Identity button on the official status page and complete the check yourself. The SRD website also has e-KYC options to check or redo identity verification. If it says your details cannot be found, visit a SASSA office with your ID.
