NSFAS status check using your ID number
Your ID number is linked to your profile, but NSFAS does not provide a public “ID-only” checker. Sign in to myNSFAS with your registered email address and password to track your application safely.
Go to official NSFAS site ↗Keep your ID number private
Do not type your ID number, password or one-time PIN into a third-party “instant status” form. Start at www.nsfas.org.za and select myNSFAS.

What your NSFAS status means

NSFAS has received your application. Check that the submitted details are correct.
Documents Missing
Open the notice and upload the exact documents requested before the deadline shown.
Under Review
NSFAS is checking your application and eligibility. Keep monitoring your account.
Approved
Your funding has been approved. Follow any registration or agreement instructions in your account.

NSFAS may add or change labels. The instruction inside your own myNSFAS account is the one to follow.
Fix common status-check problems
You forgot your password
Select Forgot Password on myNSFAS and follow the recovery prompts. Make sure you can access the registered email address or cellphone number.
Your details do not verify
NSFAS checks identity details against Home Affairs. If your official name or ID details are wrong, ask Home Affairs to correct them.
Documents are missing
Open the request, upload the specific current form or evidence, and submit within the time shown. Current NSFAS notices allow 30 days after notification.
The status has not changed
There is no universal processing time. Check for an unread notice first, then contact NSFAS with your ID and application reference if no action is shown.
If your application was rejected
Read the reason in myNSFAS. If the portal gives you an appeal option, submit it through your account with evidence that addresses that reason. NSFAS currently says eligible appeals must be made within 30 days after the application result is received.
